To help these communities understand and reduce their flood risk, FEMA has initiated coastal flood risk studies for percent of the populated coastline. Through our Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) effort, we're updating the nation’s coastal Flood Insurance Studies (FIS) and Flood Maps, where appropriate, and publishing.
